In these Pediatric Units, children are received from the first month of life up to age 18, which due to the severity of their pathology or the medical care they must have, require support, monitoring and specialized management. There, patients with different pathologies and traumas are received; metabolic, respiratory, neurological, renal diseases (hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis); and all pediatric specialties.
They are located on the Third floor at the end of the internal corridor and consists of 13 rooms equipped with advanced technology, assistance 24 hours a day, and a medical team consisting of an intensive pediatrician, pediatric specialists, nurses and respiratory therapists, who have the training for critical patient management.
Each cubicle is individual with its endowment for intensive care of the pediatric patient, equipped with a “mobile unit 1300”; an advanced monitor for invasive pressures with FCV technology; a “Mindray” vital signs monitor; 2 monitors for electroencephalogram, capnography, oxygen intakes, air intakes and suction sockets. It also has conventional mechanical fans, high frequency fans, and the latest technology “Dragger”. State-of-the-art infusion pumps and a pharmacy center for the safe administration of medicines. Like the Adult Unit, one of the cubicles has insulation, with a HEPA filter.
For this area of pediatric care, infusers are used for the administration of medicines by microdoses, which allows a safer administration in young children.
